Select an issue related to the juvenile justice system. Provide an overview of that specific issue and your proposed solution to that issue. The overview portion of the paper will require you to do research and utilizes sources, while the proposed solution portion of the paper will require you to demonstrate critical thinking skills. Possible topics include, but are not limited to, the role of school resource officers, juvenile waivers to adult court, or a specific case (i.e., Cyntoia Brown, the “Slender Man” case, George Stinney, etc.) You can talk about what the juvenile justice/criminal justice system could have done differently in that specific incident and/or what can be done to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. Your topic should be narrow enough in scope that you can discuss the issue thoroughly and tailor an appropriate solution. Your paper is required to be 4-5 FULL pages in length, double-spaced, 12-point font, and closely resemble the example posted in D2L. You are expected to use a minimum three outside sources. These sources must be reputable and cited appropriately using APA citation style. If you have any questions about how to cite in APA format, please look at the resources available to you in D2L. When in doubt about the reputability of a source, please ask.
