Performance objective
Candidates are required to develop several new policy documents to support wellbeing initiatives in the workplace and demonstrate ability to support others to reach program objectives.
Assessment description
Following on from Assessment Task 2, develop an implementation manual to assist managers in establishing an EAP for their work team, including:
• relevant policies for the program
• program guidelines
• program milestones and timelines • a tracking system for monitoring progress • a template for progress reports.
You will then participate in a coaching or mentoring role-play.
Procedure
1. Prepare an implementation manual for the employee assistance program (EAP) that details:
a. policies relevant to the program:
i. mission statement
ii. workplace health policy

iii. employee support and assistance policy iv. performance management policy
b. monitoring strategy for employee performance with regard to implementing the program in accordance with personal targets and performance management policy
c. process for tracking progress toward program milestones for participants
d. guidelines for employee participation in the program
e. program milestones and objectives
f. timelines for achieving milestones and objectives
g. a template for the progress report, including suggested headings and required information.
2. Arrange with your assessor to role-play coaching or mentoring an employee to meet organisational/program objectives in accordance with performance management policy.
3. Participate in role-play. In the role play, ensure you provide feedback on performance and support the employee to meet performance expectations.
4. Submit your implementation manual in accordance with the specifications below. Specifications
You must:
• provide a written manual, based on headings provided in the procedure section above
• participate in a coaching or mentoring role-play to help employee meet performance objectives.
Your assessor will be looking for:
• evidence that you have provided adequate information under each heading that will assist a manager in implementing the EAP.

Policies Relevant to the Program
a. Mission Statement:
The EAP aims to support employees in managing personal and professional challenges that may affect their wellbeing and work performance. The program will provide confidential and timely support and assistance to all employees and will promote a positive workplace culture that values mental health and wellbeing.

b. Workplace Health Policy:
The EAP will operate within the framework of the organization’s Workplace Health Policy. The policy aims to promote the physical, mental, and social health and wellbeing of all employees and to create a healthy and safe workplace environment.

c. Employee Support and Assistance Policy:
The EAP will adhere to the organization’s Employee Support and Assistance Policy, which aims to provide support and assistance to employees who are experiencing personal or work-related challenges that may impact their work performance or wellbeing. The policy provides guidance on the types of support and assistance available to employees and outlines the process for accessing these services.

d. Performance Management Policy:
The EAP will operate within the framework of the organization’s Performance Management Policy. The policy outlines the expectations and requirements for employee performance and provides guidance on how to manage poor performance or conduct.

Monitoring Strategy for Employee Performance
The EAP will use a performance management approach to monitor employee performance with regard to implementing the program in accordance with personal targets and performance management policy. This approach will involve:

a. Establishing clear performance targets and objectives for each employee participating in the program
b. Regular monitoring and review of employee performance against these targets and objectives
c. Providing feedback and support to employees to help them meet performance expectations
d. Identifying and addressing any barriers or challenges that may be impacting employee performance.

Tracking Progress Towards Program Milestones
The EAP will use a tracking system to monitor progress towards program milestones for participants. This tracking system will involve:

a. Establishing clear program milestones and objectives
b. Regular monitoring and review of progress towards these milestones and objectives
c. Identifying and addressing any barriers or challenges that may be impacting progress towards program milestones.

Guidelines for Employee Participation in the Program

The EAP will establish clear program milestones and objectives. These milestones and objectives will include:

a. Developing and implementing the EAP policies and guidelines
b. Providing training and support to managers and employees on the EAP
c. Establishing a tracking system for monitoring progress towards program milestones
d. Reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness of the EAP.

Timelines for Achieving Milestones and Objectives
The EAP will establish clear timelines for achieving program milestones and objectives. These timelines will include:

a. Developing and implementing the EAP policies and guidelines within 3 months
b. Providing training and support to managers and employees on the EAP within 6 months
